| Fourteen male and female Dromedary (one hump) camel (mean live weight 279.0±11.1 kg, 13 months of age) were used to study the effect of fattened for two period of 6 and 9 months on hide and leather characteristics. The weight of wet hide, dry hide and leather, finished leather mechanical properties and also shoulder, flank and rump hide thickness in each side and neck were determined. There were significantly different in wet hide weight (28.8±1.1 and 32.7±1.1 kg), dry hide weight (16.1±0.7 and 24.3±07 kg), leather weight (3.4±0.1 and 3.9.0±0.1 kg) and leather area (26.8±1.0 and 23.6±1.0 ft-2) between 6 and 9 fatting periods. The leather from the 9 fatting periods had better quality and more tensile strength 295.8±19.6 kgf/cm-2 and percentage extension 74.4±3.1 % compared to those ones of 6 fattening periods (132.2±17.7 kgf/cm-2 and 50.0±2.8 % respectively).
