چکیده مقاله
The increasing demand for animal products due to global population growth, coupled with the impacts of climate change, has created a need for resilient livestock, such as camels, to support food security. Camels, particularly Camelus dromedarius, are vital in arid regions for meat, milk, and textiles. However, camel health is threatened by the widespread camel tick (Hyalomma dromedarii), which transmits various diseases and has developed resistance to conventional acaricides. This study investigates the efficacy of plant-based substances as alternative acaricides against H. dromedarii. A comprehensive literature review identified several plant extracts, including Vitex castus, Zingiber officinale, olive oil, Saussurea costus, and citrus species, which demonstrated significant acaricidal activity. The active substances, primarily essential oils and methanolic extracts, were tested in vitro, with notable effectiveness observed, especially when combined with green-synthesized silver nanoparticles. These findings suggest that plant-based acaricides offer a promising alternative to chemical treatments, with potential applications in sustainable camel health management. Further research on additional plant species and nanotechnology integration is recommended to enhance efficacy and address acaricide resistance.
